WHITES DFX TESTS Comments I used an XLT in the late 1990’s and like most people at that time ‘upgraded’ to the DFX , and like most people went back to the XLT, knowing what I know now they were both fairly useless. But I did like the readout and the info it gave you, Main problem with them both, as is problem will most Whites detectors, the Concentric coils make the detector garbage anywhere near iron The DFX is probably one of the whose detectors ever made, finds wise. Thousands of permutations (settings wise) , most of which are totally pointless. You never knew if the settings were correct for the particular field you were detecting on, the sweep speed had to be bang on otherwise if you swung too slow or too fast you would miss the target, I cringe to think of the amount of stuff I left in the ground, I had some good sites is those days. Pros Great build quality, nice readout Good if you have a very clean site with no iron (at all) If a DD coil is attached it’s a lot better, but I would never want to use one again. Cons It will miss the target if a piece of iron is anywhere near it in most cases. It would not pick up any of the cut quarter Hammered pennies on my test bed, and the iron tests were as bad as it gets. |

DEPTH TESTS The depth tests are set up to gauge the power of the detector, all iron is removed from the hole. Various size items are buried at good depths |
